This fjord was the best fishing fjord in the old days after arctic cod, and in Feb – Apr you can see the fishermens in the Austnesfjord catching cod. 

Around this Island (Austvågøy) you will find everything Lofoten delivers, and the more exposed tourist locations  its a just a scenic drive from here.

This make Laupstad a great location all seasons. 

You can also take a day trip to Vesterålen( 1,5 hours) and Andøya ( 2 hours) from here, and from Andøya its possible to take the ferry to Senja.
